CSR Activity at Salina Nature Reserve

The Affiliate team sees CSR as an important part of giving back to the community and last month, they have teamed up with Bird Life Malta to make it happen.

Following a tree planting exercise done by the Salina team in the winter months, it was all about ensuring the trees and shrubs then make it through the harsh summer conditions. To this end, a drip irrigation system was set up so that the trees can be regularly watered thus ensuring their survival and growth in order to enhance the habitat of the area.

The second group assisted the Salina team in collecting rubbish, mostly plastics, beached in the outer salt pans following the strong winds of the weekend. Such plastic litter is very dangerous for the birds of the area with gulls often mistaking the smaller bits for food and ingesting them.
